Ta da ………… shower room finished

Well ….. We have finished.  A huge thank you to James who has worked tirelessly for 6 weeks along side, Shane Quick, plumber, Hodson and Son the tilers and Joe May who laid the floor.  You have all been wonderful. image image image image image image

Construction NOT destruction

We are now on the constructive leg of this ‘journey’ less dust and less noise!!! Next week I hope to post the final pictures.  We shall be ready for guests again in the Ammonite Room with sparkling new en suite shower room.image image

Ready for the flooring and the tilers – hurrah

James has worked so hard during the last two weeks, demolishing, sorting all the rough edges and tidying everything to get it ready for Joe to come on Monday to lay the flooring and the tilers to arrive on Wednesday.  We are almost dust free.  Anyone who knows me knows just how much I hate upheaval and dust.

Sevilles are in the shops again

We have a wonderful fruit and vegetable shop in Axminster where I bought my Seville oranges.  When paying I saw they were selling fresh Tumeric.  I have been putting it in with the fresh juices that I make and the subtle flavour they add is fabulous.

What a difference a week makes.  This time last week we had guests and the shower room was in use!  Now ……… James has worked so hard and it now looks like this!!

Day two!

There is nothing like a bit of demolition! They say there is no gain without pain!image image

Updating The Ammonite shower room

We are updating the Ammonite shower room. I shall post daily pictures of the progress!!

Flapjack Recipe

When our guests arrive they are offered a tray of tea and flapjack, many have requested the recipe.  Well here it is:

  • 280g butter
  • 280g soft brown sugar
  • 4 large tbsp malt (I put in half a 370g jar)
  • 350g rolled oats
  • 150g chopped nuts – of your choice
  • 280g dried chopped apricots/prunes/cranberries – again of your choice

  1. Put butter, soft brown sugar and malt in a small pan, then heat gently until melted.
  2. Tip oats, nuts and fruit of your choice into a medium bowl. Pour over the melted butter mixture and stir to combine.
  3. Transfer to a 40cm x 40cm greased and lined baking tray and cook at 160C/140C fan/gas 4 for 25-30 mins. Remove and cool in tin, then slice into 16, this depends on how big you want your pieces to be!! Will keep in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

I have to admit that I don’t weigh anything out, I have been making it for so long that everything goes into the saucepan, please experiment with the above recipe to get the consistency that you like.
